You Can Trip On My Synthesiser

Written 28 April 2010, 03:34 by Dara

I was recently at an electronic music exhibition. It featured a vast array of various devices and equipment, from all the big names, and even a few workshops and performances throughout the day. I had no idea what most of the very technical gear did, but I got to play a theremin, so I was happy! Possibly not as interesting as Webby’s travel blogs to anyone but myself, but, if you like synthesisers, then read on, my friend!

Or, look on, rather…

Cor!
Blimey!
Nerd Alert!
Must be a serious tune.
Nice Pad!
Nice... pads.
A Rake of Synths... That's the correct plural. I'm sure of it.
Wave to the Theremin!
Nice pants, mate.
Monosynth Orchestra - does exactly what it says on the tin.
A Poindexter
The Laptop Lounge - it does exactly what it... well, you know.
Laptop DJ. Just a man with, really.
The ceiling. Bit wrecked at this stage.
Okay, time to go.
Later, poindexters.
Next Christmas

  1. Looks a bit too hip for me (by which i mean i’m not hip enough to be found there, before anyone gets confused). Nice set up though.

  2. Yes, it was a bit overly-hip. Lots of tech-heads there. Had to look like you knew what you were talking about! I did my best, but I mainly didn’t have a clue! Especially with any of the technical gadgets and sound stuff. I was there for the more retro stuff, like the Minimoog and the theremin. Got to play around with them a bit, which was cool! The Voyager (one in the last picture) costs nearly 3000 euro!

  3. ANGRY COMMENT!

  4. Lots of pictures. Did they create a moog mood with sounds?

  5. There wasn’t too much of a mood, everyone was just testing different sythesisers at the same time. It got a bit loud at times! I gave a go on the Minomoog, though. I didn’t create a mood, but I made some sounds that I liked!

And thanks for the angry comment, Nick!

  6. I see a theremin! Were you lucky enough to have a go on that?

  7. Oh, yes! I did Leon proud!

  8. The Voyager, that is a chunky piece of kit. Pretending to know what you’re talking about… Nice myahawk lifters on that last synth.
