About Us
Fake Dog Films is a production company based in Galway, Ireland. We make short films and music videos, and have worked with international acts such as Vancougar and The LK as well as domestic ones like The Butterfly Explosion and Simon Fagan. Our work has been seen on RTE 2 and Channel 6 (now 3e), as well as online and at various screenings. This site went online in January 2008 as a place to house all of our work, and was officially launched at The Fake Dog Party in February of that year. The following are profiles of the men behind Fake Dog Films.

Gearóid according to Dara
The first time I met Gearoid was shortly after his birth. He is my younger brother and, as such, looks up to me like a father. He is the poindexter of the Fake Dog operation, and designed this marvellous website. But, after a series of roles in Fake Dog's Lost parody, he proved himself as an astute actor of the Fake Dog school of acting. He promptly followed this with a string of roles in Streets of Rage, The Shopping Season and A Dog's Life. He is now regarded as one of the best actors in Ireland by me and Paul. He is currently furthering his career as a poindexter by studying Electronic and Computer Engineering in Galway.
Gearóid according to Paul
I had heard a lot about this Gearóid character before I had met him. We co-starred in Lost before we even met. When we finally got to work together on Streets of Rage, I knew we would be buddies. He spent a lot of time on his excellent costume for Axel, delivered his lines perfectly and, although we had all gone out the night before, he was fresh faced and eager to get started.
My first experience acting alongside Gearóid was on Crackdown 2 when I accidentally kicked sand into his mouth as I chased him down on the beach. He took it reasonably well though. His enthusiasm and technical expertise have really added to Fake Dog and I am proud to have him as such an important part of our team.

Paul according to Dara
When I first met Paul Webster, I called him "Paul". I now call him Webby, and any use of the name Paul makes it seem like he's in trouble. Webby and I studied Film and TV in Galway and, as luck would have it, shared an interest in films and that no-nonsense approach to making them. After a couple of years of student filmmaking, we decided it was time to make some real films. And so we created Fake Dog Films, the banner under which all of our films would fall. The website followed soon after, and we embarked on a series of adventures making music videos and short films for the sheer love of making them. We sometimes joke that we'll fall out over Webby eating my last slice of ham, but it hasn't happened yet. Hopefully we'll get another few films out before that fateful day...
Paul according to Gearóid
I first met Paul Webster on the set of the now infamous Streets of Rage, through bloodshot eyes, unkempt hair and an all round unwell feeling in the head. We managed to get over these setbacks to make a fantastic film. This particular film set was small and quaint in contrast to those I am now used to. Paul was an expert on the camera and even more of an expert on the improvised wheelchair dolly. I was highly impressed by such professionalism and Paul and I soon became buddies. Subsequent nights out led to the Fake Dog men gaining infamy throughout Galway, and soon Paul became like a brother to me, in addition to Dara, my real brother, thus leaving me with, in essence, two brothers. I came to know him as Webby, and he came to know me as Gearóid.

Dara according to Gearóid
I first met Dara a few days after my birth, or so he'd leave me to believe. For as long as I can remember, Dara has loved films. His collection of videos, and now DVDs, grows steadily, and it's quite hard to put any real number on the amount he has, much like trying to count a lot of anything. I have seen him develop his taste in films over many years, from the days of Walker, Texas Ranger and Mickey Blue Eyes, to some he'd rather forget, such as Charmed and Charlie's Angels. But this only made him stronger, and now with his well-formed tastes and with Webby at his side, he has gone on to make such classics as Crackdown, Crackdown 2, Distance, and my personal favourite for many reasons, Streets of Rage. The future is sure to hold many promising things for Dara, no longer a Fake Pup, but a Fake Dog.
Dara according to Paul
I first met Dara way back in 2004, in Galway where we were both studying Film & TV. I was two days late joining the course because I was at my Debutants Ball. Dara was the first of the other students to talk to me. He asked me 'Was it good, your debs?' From this point on we became fast friends. We had similar taste in music and a passion for the underrated and sometimes forgotten action movies of the 80s and 90s.
We started making films and music videos together and these efforts would eventually become Fake Dog Films. Dara and I share the same no-nonsense, just-get-it-done approach to filmmaking. He is very good at coming up with great, visual ideas that are practical and doable, and always knows how it should look when it's finished. One of my favourite stages of the filmmaking process is just coming up with ideas with Dara and bouncing them off each other.
